Intelligence

Regarded by many as "The Second Oldest Profession", Intelligence has undergone a sea change since the Cold War. In that period of history, the eastern and western power's focus was engaging in a proxy war through the use of smaller entities, be they countries, NGOs or individuals.

Since that time the fragmentation of the world's bi-lateral focus has resulted in a significantly different perceived enemy. They frequently take the form of sub-national actors, much more difficult to surveil than the governments of yesterday.

Through the use of human, signals and other, newer, modalities the Intelligence organisations of the world have had to find new ways to feed their voracious appetite for raw information.

Analysing that information and presenting it for those that develop policy and strategy has superficially changed. However, the core elements remain the same as in the time of Sun Tzu.
